About Daniel
Daniel Wessels is a Registered Massage Therapist with a strong background in rehabilitation, athletic performance, injury recovery, and movement-focused therapeutic care.
As the founder of Axiom Healing – Rehabilitation and Human Performance, Daniel brings a unique combination of hands-on massage therapy, movement assessment, sports conditioning, and rehabilitation knowledge to his practice.
His passion for understanding the human body began at a young age, when he discovered how pressure applied to specific areas could help relieve his own physical discomfort. This early curiosity eventually developed into a professional commitment to helping others recover from injuries, improve mobility, and regain confidence in their physical abilities.
A Background in Sports and Human Performance
Daniel’s experience extends well beyond the treatment room.
He represented KwaZulu-Natal in competitive swimming in South Africa, including participation in the South African Games and international swimming competitions.
He later performed professionally in musical theatre, including Disney’s High School Musical South Africa, where the physical demands of frequent performances deepened his understanding of endurance, recovery, and injury prevention.
Daniel subsequently pursued competitive fitness bodybuilding, achieving 4th place at the 2014 WBFF World Championships in Las Vegas.
As an athletic coach, he has also helped athletes achieve professional competitive status, including competitors who progressed to international events such as the Amateur Olympia and Arnold Classic.
These experiences have given Daniel a practical understanding of both sides of rehabilitation: the challenges of performing at a high level and the responsibility of helping others prepare, recover, and perform safely.
Education and Professional Training
Daniel holds a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy from Wellington College and a Diploma in Exercise Science from HFPA.
His additional training includes:
- Sports conditioning and athletic coaching
- Advanced sports stretching and mobility
- Advanced sports nutrition
- Disability training and rehabilitation
- Orthopedic and joint assessment techniques
- Acupressure and therapeutic manual techniques
Having personally experienced significant shoulder, wrist, and knee injuries, Daniel also understands the physical and emotional challenges of recovering from injuries and returning to an active lifestyle.
His Treatment Approach
Daniel believes that effective treatment begins with understanding the individual, not simply treating the symptoms.
Each appointment starts with a focused assessment of the patient’s concerns, physical limitations, and personal goals.
Depending on individual needs, his treatments may incorporate deep tissue massage, sports massage, myofascial techniques, acupressure, assisted stretching, and mobility-focused techniques.
His approach combines three important elements:
- Hands-on therapeutic treatment to address muscular tension, discomfort, and movement restrictions.
- Movement and mobility support to help patients improve flexibility, physical function, and confidence.
- Practical self-care education to support progress between appointments.
Daniel works with athletes, performers, physically active individuals, people recovering from injuries, and patients experiencing chronic muscular tension or restricted mobility.
His goal is to help each patient move more comfortably, improve physical function, and better understand how to maintain their progress.
Daniel is pleased to bring his experience and individualized treatment approach to the multidisciplinary team at Priscilla Kerr Wellness in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
