Male and Female Infertility, Endometriosis, and Acupuncture Success Story

When couples face infertility after 40, especially with conditions like low egg reserve, endometriosis, tubal blockage, and male factor infertility, the path to parenthood can feel overwhelming. This case was one of the most challenging I’ve treated in my career as a TCM Fertility-certified acupuncturist, and it became a true success story.

The Couple’s Journey

  • Married since 2016
  • Trying to conceive for 5 years
  • Suffered three miscarriages
  • Female partner diagnosed with endometriosis (stage 2) and a blocked fallopian tube
  • AMH levels at 0.43, later dropping to 0.33 (very low ovarian reserve)
  • Male partner diagnosed with male factor infertility

They attempted IVF at Heartland Fertility Clinic twice between 2019–2020. Unfortunately, one cycle failed with no viable embryos, and another was canceled during the pandemic. By the time she was 42, IVF specialists recommended egg donation due to low egg reserve and blocked tube.

Turning to Acupuncture and Holistic Care

The couple came to my clinic looking for a more natural solution. We combined:

  • Weekly acupuncture
  • Customized herbal medicine
  • Targeted supplements and vitamins
  • Lifestyle and diet adjustments

Within three months, her AMH levels improved from 0.33 to 0.41. Meanwhile, her husband’s sperm quality improved significantly—morphology increased by 80% and count doubled.

The Turning Point

While preparing for egg donation, we decided on one last natural cycle. With careful monitoring and a holistic fertility protocol, she conceived naturally—just 15 days before the donor cycle was scheduled to begin.

  • Beta-hCG at 3027 IU/L confirmed a healthy pregnancy
  • Early ultrasound showed a strong heartbeat and proper implantation (important given her past miscarriages and tubal risk)
  • The couple saved over $30,000 in IVF donor costs

A Mother’s Day Miracle

This baby was born just as I was moving out of the Manitoba Clinic—a reminder that with perseverance, the right fertility support, and the power of acupuncture, even the most difficult infertility cases can have a happy ending.
