Acupuncture Treatments & Pricing
Why an Initial Consultation Is Essential
Before beginning any acupuncture treatment with Dr. Priscilla Kerr, a 30-minute Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation is required. This consultation is the cornerstone of your care and allows us to:
-
Review your complete health history
-
Understand your current symptoms and concerns
-
Identify imbalances in your body’s energy (qi)
-
Develop a personalized, holistic treatment plan
In TCM, the body is viewed as an interconnected system. By exploring your lifestyle, sleep, digestion, emotional state, and more, we can identify and treat the root causes of your condition—not just the symptoms. The more information you share, the more precise and effective your treatment will be.

What to Expect at Your Consultation
Dr. Kerr takes the time to thoroughly understand your unique health profile. She draws on her background as a medical doctor (MD) from Brazil, along with her TCM and acupuncture expertise, to create a custom treatment strategy tailored specifically to you. After your session, she continues working behind the scenes—reviewing your case and preparing personalized recommendations based on your TCM diagnosis.

How Acupuncture Works
Acupuncture is a safe, evidence-informed therapy that uses ultra-fine, sterile needles inserted at precise points on the body to restore balance and promote healing.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM):
Health is seen as a result of the smooth flow of qi (vital energy) through the body’s meridians. When this flow is blocked or imbalanced, pain or illness can occur. Stimulating acupuncture points helps rebalance qi and activate your body’s natural healing mechanisms.
In Western medical terms:
Acupuncture points correspond to areas where nerves, connective tissue, and muscles can be stimulated. This can enhance circulation, relieve tension, trigger the release of natural painkillers (like endorphins), and reduce inflammation.
Is Acupuncture Safe?
Yes. When performed by a trained and licensed professional using single-use, sterile needles, acupuncture is a very low-risk procedure. Minor bruising or soreness may occur. If you are pregnant or have a pacemaker, please let us know before treatment.

Insurance Billing & Direct Billing
At Priscilla Kerr Wellness, we are pleased to offer direct billing for acupuncture treatments through select extended health insurance providers.
To access this service, patients must complete a Direct Billing Consent Form at the front desk prior to their first appointment.
Important Notes About Direct Billing:
-
Direct billing is not guaranteed. If your claim is denied or only partially covered, the full cost of the treatment is the patient’s responsibility at the time of service.
-
Missed appointments or late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) are not eligible for insurance coverage and must be paid out-of-pocket.
-
All services provided—consultations, assessments, and treatments—are non-refundable, regardless of insurance reimbursement status.
-
Direct billing is available only during regular business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
-
After-Hours Appointments:
If you receive treatment outside of our regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), direct billing may not be available at the time of your visit. This is because our floating staff who cover later shifts are not fully trained to handle more complex or varied direct billing transactions. In these cases, full payment is required at the time of service, and our morning staff will gladly assist you the next business day to review your insurance details and submit your direct billing if applicable.
-
-
Direct billing can only be submitted after your treatment has been completed, not prior to the appointment.
Packages & Prepaid Credit – Direct Billing Policy
We offer discounted rates for patients who purchase treatment packages or preloaded credit, which may include 10% to 20% off regular pricing.
Please note:
Patients who opt for discounted packages or prepaid credit are not eligible for direct billing.
Instead, you will receive a detailed receipt after each visit, which you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. These policies help us ensure a smooth clinic flow, support fair and consistent service, and respect the time and expertise of all practitioners on our team.
If you have any questions about insurance coverage, receipts, or billing procedures, please don’t hesitate to speak with our front desk team—we’re here to help!
